Ani discovered Argentine Tango in 2008, working on a Tango Fusion project as Artistic Director/Choreographer/Dancer of her then Elbow Room Dance Company, becoming passionately engrossed in the magic of this dance. Learning one to one working with a number of generous Tangueros and Tangueras, she has been teaching, sharing and passing on all her know-how through and performing Tango ever since.
Ani is a professionally trained dance artist and teacher of almost 40 years experience, with deep roots in classical ballet, being first trained at the Rambert and then the Arts Educational Schools. She has gone on to be mentored by some of the UKs top choreographers in a wide breadth of contemporary dance skills that translate immediately to Tango technique. All hightened by her training in teaching Pilates and dance fitness providing her with a uniquely full palette of skills which she applies to delivering a creative, easy and fun approach to teaching. She believes our needs when learning Tango are as individual as each of us and aims to find a bespoke approach for all her pupils, from the melting pot of skills options at her disposal. She has been told her enthusiasm is contagious and fully embraces the wonderful social aspects of this dance. So you will find all her groups welcoming, supportive and importantly terrific fun to be around.
You can find Ani teaching classes, guided practica and one to one sessions in Aberdeen and Edinburgh. And running annual week long intensive Tango Immersions of workshops and milongas, with Damian Thompson, where you can also see her perform.
