Lucia Ohyama was born and raised in Argentina. She is a tango dancer, teacher, and producer with more than two decades of experience on stages and in artistic projects at both national and international levels. Lucia has worked as a performer in companies, festivals, and training programs.

Throughout her career, she has developed a view of tango as a living language in constant transformation. Her work focuses on connection, listening and presence, understanding tango as a tool for encountering one’s own body, emotions, and others, as well as a space for exchange and personal and collective growth.

The theme of our class with Lucia will focus on “The importance of the embrace in dance technique “ and will include sequences to explore the theme.

The class (7-8pm) will be followed with our usual relaxed, friendly milonga (8-11pm) with music maestro Mike Quickfall as our DJ for the evening! There is a cash/card bar. Please use the bar as licensing laws prohibit the consumption of alcohol from elsewhere. Tea, coffee and homemade snacks will be available.

We are delighted to have back with us the wonderful voice of Iriel Kaufman at the last milonga in the Counting House of the Summer! Traditional music will play throughout the afternoon as well, and it is our last milonga in the Counting House before we move to Marchmont St. Giles Parish Church for the festival.

We are pleased to have Carlos Quilici back with us once again to play his beautiful music! He will play both well known pieces and some of his own creation, all of which are very danceable. We hope you will come along and join us for this amazing evening of dancing!
