Edinburgh Tango Society

Tango, the sophisticated and sensual dance from Argentina, is increasing in popularity in Scotland and Edinburgh. Argentine tango is the ultimate, intimate partner dance. It is not the ballroom tango of 'Come Dancing', but an improvised social dance with a rich musical heritage. The Edinburgh Tango Society promotes tango events in Edinburgh and surrounding cities, and organises workshops, practices and dances. Anyone can take the classes whether they have danced before or not. Tango is a challenging and intensely satisfying dance and music, but most importantly it is a social activity. The ETS is a great place to make friends and become part of the international tango community. For those from elsewhere in Scotland, there are now groups organising regular practices and classes in Glasgow, Aberdeen and the Borders.

The ETS Firbush Tango Weekend

16th - 18th March 2018

Join us for a weekend of tango and the Great Scottish Outdoors at Firbush Point Field Centre on beautiful Loch Tay. Firbush is less than two hours' drive from Edinburgh and the weekend runs from 8pm Friday until 5pm Sunday.

There are milongas on the Friday and Saturday evenings, and there is time for dancing and practice during the afternoons. There are no formal classes.

The choice of outdoor activities depends on the weather and on the instructors who are available but typically includes kayaking, canoeing, sailing&windsurfing (sometimes), mountain-biking, road cycling, and hill-walking. All of these are optional, and take place in the mornings and afternoons.

Accommodation is mostly in rooms of four people, sleeping in bunk beds. All bedding is provided but towels are not.

The price for the weekend is £120 and includes accommodation, meals, dancing, outdoor activities, and loan of outdoor equipment and clothing.
